Meet The Leadership Of LeanBack GiveBack

We are committed to having a diverse staff on the board as well as every member of the staff with the common goal in mind and creating a lasting experience for the community.

A Word from

Our Founder and President

In a world filled with darkness, at the LeanBack GiveBack Foundation our goal is to be the light in the sky. I started the LeanBack GiveBack Foundation to make positive changes in our communities and especially in the culinary/food industry. It brings me so much joy to watch the children in the LeanBack Kidz Cooking Club, learn cooking techniques, create meals and enjoy their masterpieces together.

The LeanBack GiveBack Block Party, formally known as the LeanBack GiveBack Thanksgiving Affair is my way of giving back to a community that has given so much to me. As most of you know, I also own a catering company called LeanBack Soul Food. Your support allowed me to quit my job and concentrate on what I love to do, which is feeding people delicious food, full time. There is no way that I could go on each year without saying thank you! So the block party is for everyone because in some way you all have blessed me more than my heart can bear.

Finally, I am committed to serving the community in all the ways God intended for me to do. Whether it’s the GiveBack Fridge Project, the cooking club, or just inspiring and helping disadvantage women get their businesses off the ground, I will put my everything into it. I thank you for your continued to support and encouragement. With all the love in the world…

Sincerely,

Crissy Faison

Board of Directors

Make An Impact

We’re always looking for a few good volunteers!  Our goal is to reach as many communities as possible. In order to be able to reach this goal we cannot do this alone and need your help. LeanBack GiveBack Foundation is a family-oriented environment that loves to have fun while we serve. Being involved in the community, sharing opinions and experiences creates synergy that last a lifetime.

Ashley Parks

Ashley Parks is an administrative professional who shares the same vision and has the same heart for our community as the LeanBack GiveBack Foundation’s founder, Crissy. Her faith is her foundation and the root of her being which is why she serves as a board member of the foundation. Her heart has always been to serve and help others in any capacity she can.

It is her guiding light in how she lives, how she treats others, and how she does business. Ashley always felt that there was a missing piece of the puzzle and a need for women to do better and bring impact and value to themselves in society. These feelings were well reciprocated in her life due to the challenges seen by her.

Through the trials and tribulations that she faced in her life, she has learned that she cannot bring a change alone. It takes a community to selflessly give time and resources to people in need. Being a board member of the LeanBack GiveBack Foundation, she is determined to do the same and lead others by example.

Ashley is skilled in problem-solving, conflict resolution, decision-making, social perceptiveness, and relationship management. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University and has collaborated in coordinating fundraising events and conducting & planning awareness seminars as a co-chair in Relay for Life 2012-2017.

Currently, she works as Loan Operations Processor at Capital Bank where she reviews, accesses, and verifies collateral accounts. Prior to this, she worked as a Credit Administration Specialist at Truliant Federal Credit Union.

In the past, her excellent coordinating and decision-making skills helped her work as a lead teller at Wells Fargo where she managed staff’s work schedules, monitored sales staff performance, and resolved customer complaints which earned her an excellent reputation for improving customer satisfaction and driving overall operational improvements.

Her work experience also involved her working as an Assistant Manager at Quality Oil Company. Her social perceptiveness and interpersonal skills were groomed when she worked as a Policy Processor at Universal Insurance Company and reviewed and verified data, interviewed clients, and modified and processed existing policies and claims.

She thrives to inspire women to live their purpose with confidence and to create an impact in the world by embracing their core strengths, mastering their stories, and establishing themselves as independents by creating their own economy.

Carla McCoy

As a certified executive coach, Carla is on a goal to unlock her full potential with a proven system. She desires for others to live a life of fulfillment and abundance. She is a natural giver and believes that is what God has set her on this earth to do. She chooses to be involved in the foundation because of Chef Crissy’s initiative. The programs taught in the LeanBack GiveBack Foundation such as feeding the community and teaching cooking classes to young people are what inspired her to become a part of this foundation.

Carla has an expansive knowledge and an incredible ability for attracting people to their needs and goals by changing their subconscious beliefs and narratives. She does this by providing them with brilliant tools that foster and increase self-actualization.

As a former educator, she believes in instilling values, opportunities, and skills into children as early as possible. This quote by Ella Fitzgerald is what stuck with her and prompted her to become a co-treasurer of the foundation.

“Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.”

She believes the LeanBack GiveBack Foundation has been founded and is working out of love and inspiration. Prior to being an executive coach, Carla’s work in positive social change was implemented by being an Assistant Principal at an elementary school where she observed and supervised teachers to advance the academic growth of the school.

She also worked as an Elementary School teacher where she gained tremendous experience in her field and was recognized as teacher of the year for Ashley Elementary for the 2009-2010 school year. Later, she became a Curriculum Facilitator at Clara J. Peck Elementary where she was considered a key member of the school’s instructional leadership team and worked directly with the principal to provide leadership development.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Winston-Salem State University. She always had dreamt of becoming a teacher which is why she pursued her undergraduate degree in that domain. However, her pursuit did not end there and she ended up getting a master’s degree in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University.

Soon enough, her aspirations to become a principal maneuvered her to obtain the principals licensure from the State Board of Education in North Carolina. Her educational journey kept on flourishing and she pursued a doctorate in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment to expand her knowledge and sharpen her skills for decision-making.

Kyle Luth

Kyle Luth is a certified data scientist, educator, garden manager, and business counselor, that serves as a vice president of the LeanBack GiveBack Foundation due to his passion for increasing access to food. He thinks that the impact that food disparity can have on learning potential, community health outcomes, and economic mobility is significant and must not be ignored.

As a garden manager, Kyle works diligently to increase access to fresh organically-grown produce through teaching and supporting community members as they plant, grow, and harvest their own produce. Additionally, he helps implement ongoing educational programming in the garden around food, nutrition, and a healthy lifestyle, including free monthly Cooking in the Garden classes and an art, exercise, and food series called Sizzlin’ Summer Nights.

Kyle obtained a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Wabash College in Indiana and then went for advanced studies in the same field at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. After completing his M.S. in Biology, Kyle obtained a Ph.D. in Biology/Parasitology from the same university where he studied patterns of infection on molecular and ecological levels.

He has been an educator for over 12 years and he holds a North Carolina Educator License.  In addition, he is a certified data scientist and, in his role as a business counselor, helps small business entrepreneurs make data-driven decisions about their businesses.

Janelle Cunningham

Janelle Cunningham is a development professional with years of experience at non-profit educational institutions. Being a secretary at the LeanBack GiveBack Foundation, Janelle feels honored to contribute to the mission of helping women and children learn cooking techniques. She has been by Crissy’s side all along and has watched her grow her business from the ground up.

She has always been very passionate to rediscover new characteristics of empowerment and empathy within herself.  She has been empowering children and women to take control of their power and ignite their inner fuel of passion and strength.

By giving in the gifts of passion, care, kindness, and, of course, delicious food, Janelle is set to conquer hunger and empower and encourage women and children to be their best selves. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Wichita State University and has also earned a Certificate of Development Director Training and one for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace.

She is an effective multitasker, collaborator, and learner, and has outstanding communication skills. Other than professional skills, Janelle also excels in technical skills and is proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, Facebook advertising strategy, and Google software.

She embarked on a social development path and started her work life by volunteering as a Gala Co-Chair at Winston-Salem Montessori School where she collaborated with the Co-Chair to oversee all aspects of the event, planned auctions, coordinated volunteer work from planning to execution, and designed event program.

After a few months of volunteering, she worked as a receptionist at the same school and managed to maintain a customer service-based atmosphere, performed administrative support, calendar management, trip scheduling, and supply maintenance duties.

After working as a receptionist at the school for almost a year, she got promoted to the position of Director of Development. This gave her the authority to transform giving methods by implementing a cloud-based program. Her efforts resulted in doubled annual fund giving in the first year and increased giving by 190% in the second year. Her strong communication skills led her to increase 67% of individual donors.

Janelle’s exceptional performance as the Director of Development led her to land the position of Territory Development Coordinator at Wake Forest University where she works to date. In the university setting, she performs constituent data analysis, assists major gifts officers, and managed to support fundraisers in raising over $8 million for the Mid-Atlantic Territory.

Debra Franklin

Debra Franklin, a career counselor, and a dedicated mental health counselor decided to serve as a board member of the LeanBack GiveBack Foundation after witnessing the horrific period of the pandemic in 2020. She kept questioning why something so significant as a food shortage was happening in a developed country of America.

Finally, she along with the rest of the world understood that they were in this together and that they must stand by each other in times of crisis. Crissy’s vision regarding hunger way before the pandemic hit our shores inspired her to join the cause and create a way to give back to the community with a meal. Her goal is to help children and women gain confidence, be fearless, and embrace change. She uses her experience and journey to support other women embrace their inner power and attract abundance with clarity and joy.

After completing her high school diploma from Flossmoor, Illinois, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Southern Illinois University. She then started working as a bus driver and a substitute teacher at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools where she taught elementary school students and drove a bus to transport students.

This led her to work as a bus operator in Charlotte Area Transit System where she drove local and express bus routes in Charlotte/Mecklenburg, North Carolina. Amidst the period of working as a bus operator, she also managed to gain the League Cycling Instructor education from the League of American Bicyclists.

Debra kept on hustling and earned a Professional Repair and Shop Operation Certificate from United Bicycle Institute along with Bicycle Friendly License from the City of Fort Collins by the end of 2017.

To date, she is working as a remarkable career counselor at the university. To further diversify her education, she secured a Certified Coach License from USA Cycling in 2020.
